Thomas
"Tom" F. Joines, 87, of Etowah, TN passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026.
He was a devoted family man, distinguished Air Force veteran, and
dedicated professional. Born on August 8, 1938, Tom was blessed with a
long and full life marked by service, commitment, and a deep love for
those closest to him.
Tom
proudly served his country with the United States Air Force for 26
years, exemplifying dedication and honor throughout his military career.
Following his military service, he applied his determined work ethic to
a successful career at CSX Railroad, where he worked diligently for over
25 years before retiring. Beyond his professional life, Tom was also an
accomplished landlord, managing multiple rental properties with care and
responsibility.
In his
later years, Tom found joy in animal husbandry, cultivating a passion
that brought him peace and fulfillment. Above all, his greatest
treasures were his family—his children, grandchildren, and
great-granddaughter, who were the center of his world and the recipients
of his unwavering love and support.
Tom is
survived by his daughter Jenny McDonald, as well as daughter Cathie and
son-in-law Philip Foster. He cherished his grandchildren Beth and spouse
Henry Gregg, Joshua McDonald and fiancé Allee Webb, Ben Foster, and
Spencer Foster. His great-granddaughter RubyMae Gregg was also a shining
light in his life. Additional survivors include his sister-in-law Judy
Joines and special friends Robin and Pete Duckett, Rick and Marlene
Osborn, and their families, along with several extended family members
who held him dear.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife Cissie Joines, sister
Jackie and brother-in-law Al Bates, and brother Jim Joines.
Funeral
service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the
chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home.
The family
will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday prior to the
service.
Interment
will follow the service at Green Hill Cemetery.
Joshua
McDonald, Ben Foster, Spencer Foster, Henry Gregg, Andrew Bates, Todd
McCoy, and Jamie Joines will serve as pallbearers.
